How does The Original help with chest fullness or gynecomastia?
The Original is designed to make the chest look flatter under clothing while you wear it. Its extra-firm double-layer chest panel also works with compression through the stomach and sides. The appearance depends on your body, fit and outer shirt; this is everyday shapewear, not a treatment for gynecomastia.
Should I choose Original or Max?
Choose Original for Esteem's tightest fit and firm chest, stomach and side shaping. Choose Max if you prefer a less tight, sportier feel. Both are sleeveless tanks that cover the torso; Max is not the sleeveless version of Original.
Is The Original a tank top or a short-sleeve undershirt?
The Original is sleeveless, with mesh shoulder straps and a longer torso. If you want short sleeves, compare UltraSlim. Coverage and compression are separate choices: a tank can still shape the chest and stomach.
Will it show through a fitted T-shirt or white dress shirt?
It is designed to sit close to the body, but thin or tight outer fabrics can reveal seams, the neckline or panel edges. Smooth the garment flat and check your actual outfit in daylight. A denser weave and a little room through the chest can make the layer less noticeable. White avoids black showing through a light shirt, but white-on-white is not guaranteed to disappear.
What size should I buy, and should I size down for more compression?
Measure the fullest part of your chest and your natural waist, keeping the tape level without pulling it tight. Compare both with the size guide. Your usual T-shirt size, height or weight alone is not enough.
How tight should The Original feel?
Expect a very snug fit, with comfortable breathing and movement. You should be able to sit, reach and move without digging or pinching. Do not force a fit that hurts or restricts breathing. Recheck your measurements and size; compare Max if you want a less tight feel.
How do I put it on without struggling or stretching the straps?
Follow our step-in instructions: step into the shirt and ease it up gradually, distributing your grip across the fabric. Avoid pulling hard on one strap or the neckline. Smooth the chest, sides and hem once it is in place. If it will not go on comfortably, recheck the size instead of forcing it.
Why does a compression shirt roll up or bunch at the waist?
Rolling can depend on size, torso length, fabric folds and how the outer clothing sits. Smooth the fabric down and check the hem while sitting and reaching. Original's longer cut helps it stay tucked, but cannot guarantee it never rides up. Recheck your measurements if it keeps bunching; do not automatically choose a smaller size.
Will I feel warm wearing it all day?
Any extra clothing layer can add warmth. Original is our tightest fit, so comfort depends on the weather, activity, outer shirt and your preferences. Try the complete outfit for a short period before a full day. For a less tight sleeveless option, compare Max; for a softer everyday undershirt feel, compare EliteSlim.
Does it also smooth the stomach and love handles?
Yes. Original combines its firm chest panel with compression through the stomach and sides. It changes how clothing sits while worn; the amount of visible smoothing varies with body shape and fit.
Can I sleep in it or use it after surgery?
The Original is sold for everyday shaping under clothing. We do not recommend choosing it as sleepwear or as a substitute for a prescribed postoperative garment. If you need compression for a medical reason, follow your clinician's instructions about the garment and wear schedule.
How do I wash it, and how long will the compression last?
Wash cold on a gentle cycle with mild detergent and hang to dry. If you use a dryer, use low heat briefly; avoid high heat, bleach and fabric softener. Wear frequency and care affect the fabric over time, so we cannot promise a fixed lifespan. See our wearing and washing instructions.

Although my body fat percentage is low, I suffer from gynecomastia and my breasts have more than a little excess fat. The esteem tank certainly helps, but I don't consider it to be high compression, which I need. I do wear it as a regular tank top when I go on my three mile walks. I like that it is a netting type fabric that breathes and gives a nice cooling effect when I'm sweating. I'd like to have more compression up top, so that I look less booby. But the fabric is too stretchy to hold back these excessive ones.
Simply put, they arrived quickly was exactly as expected. Very happy with my purchase. I would recommend.

I had previously purchased one Esteem tank top and gave less than a five star rating because I felt that the compression wasn't enough to hide my gynecomastia. After wearing the tank top a few times, I changed my mind because I found that it had compression consistent with my other brand tank tops. As a bonus, the Esteem tank top breathes better and keeps me cooler because of the netting fabric. And the Esteem tank top has a more generous length that extends over my rump, and it stays in place. For these reasons, I bought two more. These are my new favorite tanks.
