The Max Compression Tank Top is Esteem Apparel's sleeveless option for chest and upper-torso shaping with a less tight, sportier feel than The Original. Wear it as a close-fitting base layer under T-shirts, hoodies and casual shirts when you want a smoother outline.
Max covers the torso while leaving your arms free. Its longer cut helps the hem stay tucked. Like any added layer, it can feel warm, and thin outer fabrics may reveal the neckline or seams.

Sizing and fit
Choose your size using body measurements. Measure around the fullest part of your chest and your natural waist, keeping the tape level without pulling it tight. Compare both measurements with the size guide. If they indicate different sizes, select the larger size. If a measurement falls between the listed ranges, use the next size up. Do not choose a smaller size for extra compression.
Max uses the same chest and waist size guidance as Original, with a different cut and compression feel. Height, weight and your usual T-shirt size should not determine your size on their own.
Max Tank vs. The Original
Both styles are sleeveless. Choose Original for Esteem's tightest fit with firm chest, stomach and side shaping. Choose Max for a less tight tank with a sportier feel. For short sleeves and medium overall shaping, compare UltraSlim; for a softer everyday undershirt feel, compare EliteSlim.

How is Max different from The Original?
Max has a less tight, sportier feel than The Original. Both are sleeveless and cover the chest and torso. Choose Original for Esteem's firmest fit with more stomach and side shaping; choose Max when you prefer a less tight tank. We do not have a measured percentage difference in flattening between the styles.
Can Max help make my chest look flatter under a T-shirt?
Max is designed for chest and upper-torso smoothing under everyday clothes. The result depends on your body, size and outer shirt. It changes the appearance while worn; it does not treat gynecomastia or permanently change chest tissue.
Can I wear Max under a dress shirt, and will the edges show?
Yes. Its sleeveless cut avoids an extra layer under the sleeves. Thin or closely fitted dress shirts can still show the tank neckline, armholes or seams. Smooth Max flat, then check the outfit in daylight while sitting and reaching. A denser outer fabric and a little room through the chest can help.
Which color should I choose for a white shirt?
White avoids the dark contrast of a black tank beneath a light shirt, but it may still show through a sheer fabric. Check the neckline and armhole edges with your actual outer shirt; color alone does not make a layer invisible.
What size should I choose if my chest and waist suggest different sizes?
Measure the fullest part of your chest and your natural waist, keeping the tape level without pulling it tight. Compare both with the size guide and choose the larger size if they differ. If a measurement falls between listed ranges, choose the next size up. Do not size down for extra compression.
How should Max fit before I wear it for a full day?
It should feel snug and supportive while letting you breathe, sit, reach and move comfortably. Smooth out folds and check whether the hem lies flat. If it digs in, hurts or restricts breathing, stop wearing it and recheck the fit. Your usual T-shirt size alone is not a reliable size guide.
How do I put Max on without pulling too hard?
Follow our step-in instructions. Step into the tank and ease it up a little at a time, spreading your grip across the fabric rather than yanking the straps or neckline. Smooth the chest, sides and hem. If you cannot put it on comfortably, recheck the size instead of forcing it.
What can I do if Max rolls up at the waist?
Smooth the fabric down and check for folds before adding your outer shirt. Sit and reach to see how the hem moves. Rolling can depend on size, torso length and the way your clothing sits; the longer cut helps, but cannot prevent every instance. Recheck your measurements rather than automatically sizing down.
Is Max cooler than Original or suitable for hot weather?
Both Max and Original are sleeveless. Max has a less tight feel, but that does not establish a measured cooling advantage. Any added layer can feel warm. Consider the weather and your outer shirt, and try the full outfit before a long day. Choose the fit you can wear comfortably.
Is Max the same as an athletic compression shirt?
Max is everyday shaping apparel with a sporty tank style. A sporty appearance does not establish workout performance or recovery benefits. Choose it for how it fits under your clothing; use activity-specific guidance when choosing exercise gear.
Can I sleep in Max or wear it after surgery?
Max is sold for everyday shaping under clothing. We do not recommend choosing it as sleepwear or as a replacement for a prescribed postoperative garment. Follow your clinician's instructions if you need compression for a medical reason.
How should I wash Max, and will it keep its shape?
Wash cold on a gentle cycle with mild detergent and hang to dry. If you use a dryer, use low heat briefly. Avoid high heat, bleach and fabric softener. Care and frequency of use affect the fabric over time, so we cannot promise a fixed lifespan. See our care instructions.

It's a great fit. Not nearly as restrictive as I was expecting it to be. Wore it for a performance in which I had to sing and dance and it didn't affect my breath or movement. And I got lots of compliments from people about how slim I looked (including from my partner, who didn't know I was wearing it). Completely satisfied.

I did not use the xxl it’s still in original packaging
I ordered Xl and XXL and ended up using the extra large only. It does what it’s supposed to do. Just make sure if you put it on after a shower you are fully dried if not you will need help pulling it up. It was kind of hard getting it up over my shoulders but it does the job once you have it on
Excellent compression tank, breathable, supportive, and really helps smooth your shape. Just make sure to go one size up, as your usual size will feel too tight. Overall, very impressed!

Chest area feels great. However, the tummy area and ribcage feels like it will crush me lol. Is there one that just cover the chest area but doesn’t crumple up?

Does not fit the same as the original. Much smaller/tighter than the original in the same size. As such, I will be returning it.
Tough to get on , but the results are worth the application. Compression works!!
